Position : Estimator

Responsible for acquiring, estimating, billing and managing commercial flooring projects while coordinating all parties involved with the goal to maintain superior customer service and installation while maximizing profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies leads and pursues sales through contract bids and direct sales.
  • Assists in the specification and/or selection of flooring products for commercial projects.
  • Prepares proposals with input provided by the Estimator and Project Administrator.
  • Negotiates contracts including price, delivery, terms and conditions.
  • Communicates with mills and other distributors to determine availability of products. Communicate findings to customers.
  • Documents all change orders. Communicates changes to all affected parties.
  • Communicates job schedules to coordinate with the client, general contractor, field supervisor and project administrator.
  • Maintain continuing education on all flooring products and the respective installation techniques thereof.
  • Prepare Contracts, Proposals, Revised Proposals, Change Orders, and RFIs
  • Prepare and review work orders with the Field Supervisor.
  • Assist with preparation and review of job details in Procore for invoicing and maintaining control of records.
  • Meets with key customers, maintaining relationships; and negotiating and closing sale of project.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Manage start-up through completion of flooring installation on commercial flooring projects ranging from approximately $30,000- $1,000,000.
  • Work with General Contractors, End Users, Architects, commercial clients and sales persons to assure successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Execute contracts, complete materials buyout, estimate/process change orders, submit RFI’s & submittal.


  • Accurate Cost Estimation: Provide precise and competitive estimates for commercial flooring projects, considering factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs, to ensure profitability and client satisfaction.
  • Timely Proposal Preparation: Prepare and submit proposals in a timely manner, incorporating input from the Estimator and Project Administrator, and negotiating contracts with clients to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain open communication with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the estimation process, conveying project requirements, changes, and updates clearly and professionally.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, products, and installation techniques through ongoing education and training, while also leveraging innovative estimating software tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimation.


  • Experience in Construction Estimating: Demonstrated experience in construction-related work, preferably in high-end building, design, or architectural environments, with a strong background in estimating and managing commercial flooring projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of flooring products, installation techniques, and industry standards, coupled with proficiency in innovative estimating software tools to accurately assess project requirements and generate competitive proposals.
  • Interpersonal and Negotiation Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams, coupled with strong negotiation abilities to secure favorable terms and close sales.
  • Organizational Abilities: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prepare contracts, proposals, change orders, and other documentation accurately and efficiently, while ensuring compliance with project specifications and deadlines.
